Note: I emphasize the value of software in terms of its usability, relevance, and barrier-free integration. I do believe all software can adhere to these goals. Hardware is currently more difficult to liberate as the physical realities of manufacturing defend each company in their ability to limit users. These limits may be in place to protect the value a manufacturer brings to the market, this practice is akin to a mandate against sharp blades because someone may commit a crime.
